Dr. Ann M. Lafranca

It’s a pleasure to meet you. I am Ann Lafranca, MD and I am a Board Certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist. My educational background includes St. Mary’s Dominican High School (Summa Cum Laude) in New Orleans, a Bachelor of Science (Summa Cum Laude) from LSU, my Doctorate from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, and Residency through Charity Hospital where I served as Chief Resident. My husband and I moved to Baton Rouge in 1993 and have been part of this growing community. Our children have attended St Thomas More, Catholic High, St. Joseph’s Academy, and LSU. I have served at Woman’s Hospital on the Board of Directors as Chief of Staff, Chief of OB, Chief of Clinical, Member of the Executive Committee, Chairperson for: Medical Review, OB Patient Care, and Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committees, and Member of the Ethics Committee. Currently, I serve on the Credentials Committee and am a Physician Educator developing Simulation Training for OB Emergencies.  I participated for 17 years in the District Attorney’s Rape Crisis Intervention Team. I am a preceptor for the NP and PA programs in Louisiana and teach LSU Medical School students. I instruct in the God’s Own Making program at STM and lector there as well.

Trained in Routine and High Risk Obstetrics, I enjoy working with each OB patient to create a safe and unique birth experience. I treat all categories of gynecology including endocrine and infertility, adolescent gynecology, menopause, menstrual dysfunction, pelvic floor problems, and other women’s health issues. I am trained in all facets of gynecologic surgery including minimally invasive Robot laparoscopic procedures, abdominal, vaginal and Robotic hysterectomy, laser, LEEP, Endometrial Ablation, hysteroscopy, and Myosure to name a few. I work in conjunction with an urologist for pelvic floor dysfunction and incontinence.

My life has been abundantly blessed by family, friends, and the daily miracle of birth. I am privileged to work with my amazing patients who have courageously faced infertility, fetal loss, cancer, and other personal struggles. I see their eyes of faith and walk with them through each journey; the burden is less when traveled together. I strive to create a caring atmosphere committed to excellence and look forward to serving you and your family.

New OB patients should call my nurse directly for appointments: 928-5951, press 2, press 3. Thank you!
